May 21, Poonam Sonawane rated it it was amazing Recommended to Poonam by: I have actually not enjoyed the college days as such Nevertheless this book takes me through a journey of the college life which was missed. Aug 01, Mangesh Adgaonkar rated it really liked it. This book was published in early 80s, but even after more than 30 years you can easily relate to the college life described in this book.

The slang and jokes might be slightly different now or when you were in college, but Suhas Shirvalkar has got the mood so perfect that you get transported to your own college life while reading this and start finding the parallels. It is a complex story with simple characters and the flow is so lively that you can keep it down until you reach the end.

I won’t This book was published in early 80s, but even after more than 30 years you can easily relate to the college life described in this book. I won’t go into the synopsis because you might have seen the movie already I haven’t or read it in other reviews here. This book has has many disconnected small stories or episodes that apparently seem to be interconnected only by timeline and the sequence in which they occur.

Since there is no single central story, at some point after half-way mark, you would be wondering when is the ‘actual story’ going to start. I had mentioned in my earlier review of ‘Nyay-Anyay’ that he knows the art to surprise you – the original Marathi Jeffrey Archer!

Its not a heavy read, but the theme will stay with you for much longer.

One of the best book I have ever read in my life. This book teaches you what life is all about. Jun 02, Shinde rated it did not like it Shelves: Poor little rich boy is desperate to ‘fit in’.

So he drinks, smokes, indulges in gang fights and random love affairs. His girlfriend too does all the above, since she’s ‘modern and progressive’, you know?

A few heartbreaks and deaths follow, by which time I had lost patience. Oh, yes, the book was recently converted into a hit film. Clearly, there must be an audience for it.

Jul 16, Vinay Yeole rated it liked it. It’s been may be around 10 years, I have read this book. I was quite impressed the book is written. Story was set in ‘s. I would recommend this book to anyone. But if you’re avid reader, you may find this book mediocre.

Read this book before the Marathi movie based on the book was released. Book keeps you interested on and off. Looks like a book that was written to be adapted later into typical melodrama movie. You can read if you can easily get hold of it but mostly an average book. Mar 25, Pratik rated it really liked it. Oct 03, Archies rated it really liked it.

Although there is slight difference in ending but then I could have felt much more intriguing had i not watched the movie first. Still the level of excitation was amazing.

May 03, Sumant rated it it was ok Shelves: Apr 11, Mayur rated it it was amazing Shelves: What to say, words are not enough to describe some things. After so many days I read something too obsessively. Its a simple story about complex things in life. We can’t express every feeling in life, some of them may remain inside forever. Shirvalka depicted them really well.

Though story revolves around college or youth days of 70’s era, anybody can relate themselves somewhere in story. And though being emotional it also shows practical side of life as well.

Ehirvalkar 23, Komal rated it it was amazing. I came to know about this book after movie “Duniyadari”.
